Snow traveling

On day two, after we left Arches National Park we continued to head west. Thinking we were clear of the snowy problem areas of Colorado, we continued our journey.  We headed toward Salt Lake City Utah, only to find snow covered mountain roads. For a ways the roads were clear and we could enjoy the view of snow capped mountains.  As the sun went down we headed into a  real pretty canyon. As dark fell we ran right into a snow storm.  The wind was blowing snow all over the road. This was a really cool drive.  We could have enjoyed the view, IF it had not been snowing and winding and on a LEDGE.  We pulled over at one point to chain up and a native of the area told us to keep going and to get out of the canyon.  The storm had just hit and he thought we had a better chance of racing the snow storm.  The only problem was that it was all down hill.  There was several times that we were slipping and sliding.  But finally, we made it out of the canyon and hit the city, which had clear dry roads.  YEAH!!! We made it!!

This is a picture of the snow covered canyon road.  It became a lot worst when dusk fell. I was just too nervous to take pictures when we hit the bad parts.

We were relived to find a camp spot for the night after a tense night of snow trekking.

The next morning we headed out of  camp toward Salt Lake City.  And let me warn you, the roads in Salt Lake city are horrible.  Not great to drive on with a small SUV attached to a 20 foot box trailer.

Salt Lake in Salt Lake City - Pretty cool site with all the snow in the background.  Some of the lake was frozen over.  On with our journey, next state.............

Yeah, we made it to Nevada!  NO more snow.(so we thought)

Looooong road. At least in Nevada we had cell phone reception, most of the time. When we were in South Dakota there was NO cell service.  The west has amazed us in how much undeveloped land is out here.

We ended our day in Nevada.  This is one, nothing state.  The area we drove through had nothing but wide open space.  We would go miles without seeing anything. I guess all their important stuff is down in the corner of Las Vegas.  But the part we drove through was miles and miles of land.
We ended our day with a Hotel stay.  Johnny had some work that he needed to get done,
and I was ready for a HOT shower away from snow.
