We have started the year off with last minute trips to the sites that we have not seen yet. The first of these is the Washington Monument. We have not had a chance to go to the top. So we made time to do just that
this first week of January 2010.
The monument is a total of 555 feet high. We took the elevator 500 feet high to the observation windows. At this point there are windows looking out at North, South, East, and West. We could see all of Washington DC. It was a pretty cool site. The boys loved spotting the different landmarks of DC. We rode the elevator back down at the 490 foot mark. Only took about 5 minutes.
We have just about a month left up here and want to squeeze in a few more things.
We still have the National Archives, and the Library of Congress, just to name a few. And we are still waiting on an invitation to have dinner with the president. Ha Ha lol.
It could happen!!
