Mt. St. Helens Adventure

We stopped by Mount St. Helens.  Unfortunately it was a cloudy day and did not get to see the mountain it's self. But we had an awesome adventure anyway. 

This is Mount St. Helens before it erupted on May 18, 1980.

This is after the volcano had blew it's top.  We learned that Mount St. Helen is growing back and they expect it to blow again some time in the next 100 years.

The boys learned a lot about how volcano's work.

The boys worked hard and earned their Junior Ranger Badge.

One of the coolest things that the boys enjoyed was playing with the seismograph.

If it had not been a cloudy day this would have been an awesome view of the mountain.

This is a standing house that was flooded with mud, ash lava flow.

Our most interesting adventure while at Mount St. Helens was BIGFOOT! We found out that this area of the country is known for Bigfoot sitings. Here we found a huge statue of Bigfood himself.  It has been said that the volcano killed Bigfoot, but there have been sitings since so he is still alive in the green gloomy Mountains of Mount St. Helens.

Here are foot molds of the Bigfoot that has been spotted around the area.

Never spotted Bigfoot but found a mama deer and her baby.

Here we are near the top of the mountain view spot.  You can see how white with clouds the back drop looks.

We found snow on the top.

Wish we could have saw the volcano it's self, but over all it was a cool adventure.

Stopped by Yosemite.

Yosemite National Park

On our trip to Alaska we stopped off to see Yosemite National Park.  It was truly amazing.  The boys favorite park of the park was when we walked up to the Bridalveil Falls.  The mist of this massive waterfall could be felt yards away from the drop point.  When we finally reached the drop point it felt like we were in a heavy rain fall storm.  There was a wind that whipped around and  blew water all over your entire body.  To look up we felt the freezing cold water splash in our faces.  If you could keep your eyes open long enough to see you could spot rainbows in the mist.  Of course we could take pictures for being afraid that our electronics would be ruined by the water.  It was one of those experiences that leaves you in awe of God's glory and might power of His creation.  

(Just a note: wear flip flops and a poncho and take a water proof camera, wished I had know this in order to capture this amazing site.)

Our second day to Yosemite we spent the morning walking through and visiting the massive giant sequoia trees.  Another amazing site!  

This is the waterfall that we walked up to and stood under.

This is part of the base of Bridalveil Falls.  Here we are a good ways away from the base of the waterfall. Even this far away you could feel the mist and see the mighty waters running.

This is what is known as half dome.
