Corliss friends travel to CA to vacation with us.

It's always fun when friends come to visit!
Our friends the Corliss Family planned to spend their Spring Break with us here in California.  They were here a total of eight days.  We packed the week full.  We were very excited to share with them our life here in Hollywood.  So of course we did all the 'Hollywood' stuff.  But we also scheduled several other fun trips.  We went to San Fransisco to visit the Golden Gate Bridge and Muir Woods.  Muir Woods is a  park full of giant Red Wood trees.  We went to Vegas to see all the night lights.  While in Vegas we drove over to the Hoover Dam and took a inside tour.  We also squeezed in a Disney trip.
It was a full week but  fun and exciting.  We did and saw things that we will not soon forget.

Our ride of the week.  We were chauffeured  around by our very own ~ Johnny Mize~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BEACH DAY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While visiting the Beach and Venice the kids found a star fish in the water.
~~~~~~~~~~MOVIE NIGHT~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of our favorite things to do with the Corliss Family is going to the movies.  When we were back in Georgia we would often meet up, to take in a new movie.  So while they were here we decided to take in the new Rango Movie.  The boys loved it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hollywood~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can't come to LA without going downtown.  We took the Corliss Family to see the 'stars' and the
Hollywood sign.
We walked by Grauman's Theater while in Hollywood.  This is the location of all the stars that have their hand prints in the cement.
Bryson holding the Hollywood sign.
This is one of our Fave places!! El Capitan and Disney Soda Fountain. We took our friends to the Soda Fountain for ice cream.  Yummy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Grove~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another one of our fun hang out spots is the Grove so we took our friends for lunch and some shopping.  Kristen was looking for a dress for her school dance.  She found one here at the Grove.  What a cool memory of buying a dress in LA for a school dance.  Girls have to be so much fun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SAN FRANSISCO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We drove up to San Francisco  to visit Muir Woods.
The trees here are huge!!
We stopped by the curviest road in the USA, Lombard Street!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~DISNEY DAY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Corliss' love Disney as much as we do and so that was a must stop on our week together.  We visited Disneyland on Johnny's birthday.  He enjoyed having the day off and spending it with us!

My boys loved having friends to go to Disney with.  I think they really enjoyed riding rides with their friends more than riding with Johnny and I.

We met Stitch!  He blends right into our family.  He looks like a Mize standing with us!

We got the park hopper ticket so we also visit Disney's California Adventure.  One of the favorite rides of the day was the California Screamer over on Paradise Pier.  I'm not really sure how many times we rode that one.  Cool Coaster!  Better than any coaster ever ridden before.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~VEGAS TRIP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have been to Vegas once already, but were very excited to visit Hoover Dam on this Vegas trip.  The Hoover Dam is only 30 miles from Vegas.  So we decided to stay the night in Vegas at our favorite and cheap hotel, Circus Circus!  We were able to get a room for $40 with the most comfy bed ever!!
We walked through the Venetian and was blown away with the decor.  Who has a canal running through their lobby? Well the Venetian does!!  You can even ride the whole canal in a gondola.  Cool place to see!  Don't think I will ever travel to Italy but this hotel makes you feel like you are really there!
The Mirage has a volcano that explodes every hour.  The kids found this very interesting.
Hanging out at Ceasers Palace!
Can't go to Vegas without stopping by the M&M store.  The boys love this 4 story store.
Nice trip!   Posting other blogs of our time at Hoover Dam.
Nature out at sea!
I don't know about you all but I love to watch wild animals in their natural habitat.  I could so sit and watch squirrels all day long.   Birds amaze me at how they do what  birds do.  It reminds me of the verse, Mathew 6:26, "Consider the birds of the air, they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns and yet your Father feeds them. Are you not more value than they?"
Watching animals in their natural habitat reminds me that God takes care of me, no matter what kinda storm you may be in or coming out of.
Our travels across the USA has given us the opportunity to witness even more amazing animal watching opportunities.  As we drove across the plains we saw cute deer like animal called prong horns.  In Colorado we saw mountain goats and elk.  In Wyoming we saw buffalo.  But what we saw last weekend out at sea left us speechless.  I'm not even sure I could explain how amazing it truly was.  I guess that it being so rare made it even more exciting.
We had to take this boat out to sea, to see these amazing creatures.
Oil well out in the Pacific
.
Our first siting.  The whale is blowing out his blow hole.
So cool, it just jumped right up and there it is....... A WHALE TAIL !!
The whales came up for picture opportunities about 6 times.  So COOL!  I was hooked, I want to see more!  I hope that as our travels lead us to Alaska we will be able to see more of this kinda amazing animals.
On our cruise we also saw a sea lion out at sea swimming around.
The dolphins swam along our boat.  They wanted their picture made too.
This was our last whale siting of the day.  He showed off his barnacles.
Perfect sunset to our amazing day!
